Canada is a great vacation destination, and the people are very friendly and hospitable. To make your entry worry free, foreign visitors should check the Canadian Customs regulations which vary from country to country. American money is accepted in much of Whistler; however, visitors are encouraged to change at least some of their money into Canadian funds. Traveler’s checks and major credit cards are accepted in most areas. A tax of 10% is levied on accommodations and alcoholic beverages sold in bars and restaurants. The Vancouver International Airport is served by more than 40 air carriers and has direct flights from many of the USA major cities: Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, New York, Houston and Miami. In addition, there are international direct flights from Moscow via Lufthansa and London via British Airways. The City of Vancouver lies on the coast and has very mild winter weather. Started as a small fishing village, this town has evolved into an exciting and cosmopolitan city with great night life, entertainment and international restaurants and shopping, and one should plan on spending a day or two to enjoy it.
